Well, as I write this, I’m on the train from London Paddington to Penzance, where I’ll make my way to the quiet plains of Treverven Farm, just round the corner from Land’s End to spend an evening preparing myself mentally. After a spell of about 4 days of an over familiar volume of nerves, I’m [...]
15 minutes of your time
*Please note, that I DO practice safe cycling, and only listen to music at a low level, and when traffic is at a low level. Also I use iPhone headphones which don’t block out any exterior noise. This video is an extremely quick edit of my London–Norwich training bike ride just over a week ago. [...]
My route
My route is now complete! I have a cool little app on the iPhone which downloads the map and shows me the different points of navigation. As long the battery is good and signal is fine, this should be a safe and sound trip! After seeing the route in one go, I have a false [...]
Training video
All this talk of training, and no one has seen me in action. Well, here is an end to that mystery and after filming this weekend, I can now share the experience. Thanks to Tamara Ben Halim for the great advice and camera work! Enjoy and feel free to share the link to keep the [...]
Tabriz visits Tabrez
Had 1 visitor from the city of Tabriz in Iran this week. Cool!
Fundraiser evening – the results
Well, what an interesting evening… First of all, I would to thank everyone who came last night. It means a lot to me that some people managed to make it out but it’s a shame that a quite a few people couldn’t make it along. It’s ok, I’m looking forward to your generous donations! I’ve [...]
A Fundraising evening
On Wednesday 14 July, 2010, I will be attempting to host a fundraising night as part of my fundraising effort (I say attempting as I’ve never really done this kind of thing before!). This night will be a showcase of world music, getting people together who all share the view that the Palestinian people deserve [...]
Roadkill
No photos for this one, but I’m still affected by the amount of roadkill I saw on my weekend training ride. Foxes, pigeons, mice and rabbits. Very difficult to deal with whether it’s recently occurred or been there for a while. Just felt I had to share this.
London to Norwich
Well, SO much to write about after this weekend, but I’ll break it up over the next few days, too exhausted to write a lot tonight! As you can see by the title, I cycled from London to Norwich this weekend, which was a nice 115 miles door to door. Hard work, especially a 10 [...]
3 weeks to go
3 weeks left, and for the first time, I’m feeling pretty nervous! Mapped out part of my route which looks great in some parts though.
An anniversary
Exactly one year ago today, I arrived in Paris with a group of 28 wonderful people from all walks of life. We cycled from London in 3 days and all of us raised over £90,000 for MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians) for their health projects in Gaza. This event was a great inspiration to me, [...]
Muvi Veho video test
For me, one of the most important aspects of this whole journey, alongside raising funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians, is to record and document as much of it as possible. For me, the journey has already started, and cycling the 1000 miles will only be a small part of this whole experience. Training so [...]
Wheelcraft
Over the last few days, my spokes have been popping out, as the wheels on my bike are not really designed for going over the pot holed terrain for hundreds of miles as I have been doing so over last few weeks. Wheelcraft, was a store I happened upon back in October 2009, but it [...]
music
During the long long bike rides, nothing quite like a bit of good music helps to keep you going. As an advocate of road safety, I only tend to use the cheapy apple iPod headphones, so that I can listen to some “bangin choons” whilst being able to hear any nearby traffic. Today I’m cycling [...]
Welcome to tabrez.co.uk
This website has been set up to document the build up and process of my Land’s End John O’Groats (LEJOG) bike ride. I will be attempting to cycle around 1000 miles in 7 days to raise £1000 for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). You can donate by clicking on the following link www.virginmoneygiving.com/tabrez I have [...]
